Near the amphitheatre there also were the Armamentarium, the place to store weapons; the Summum Choragium, where machinery was kept, the Sanitarium, where the wounded gladiators were treated and the Spoliarium, where bodies of dead gladiators were stripped of their armor and kept till funeral.

At a distance of 18 m of the Colosseum there was a series of tall stone posts. Five of them still remained on the eastern side. Some specialist consider them to be part of a religious structure, while some think of them as remains of the ticket checks.

Next to the Colosseum is the Arch of Constantine. A spectacular monument erected to commemorate Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312. The arch is situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill.
